Managing Your eBay Account Settings

Keeping your eBay account information up to date is crucial for a smooth buying and selling experience. You can access and manage all your settings from the Account tab in My eBay.

Accessing Account Settings

To find your account settings:

1. Sign in to your eBay account.
2. Go to My eBay and click the Account tab.
3. Alternatively, hover over your name at the top of most eBay pages and select Account settings from the dropdown menu.

Key Sections within Account Settings

The Account section is organized into several key areas to help you manage different aspects of your profile and preferences:

• Personal Information: This section allows you to manage fundamental contact details.
• • Update your contact information: Change your name, date of birth, phone number, email address, and postal address. It is important to verify your email and phone number to confirm your contact details.
  • Account type: View your current account type (personal or business) and, if applicable, upgrade a personal account to a business account.
• Sign in and Security: Manage your login credentials and security features to protect your account.
• • Password/Username: Update your password and username.
  • Security settings: Enable extra security measures like two-step verification or set up passkeys using biometrics (fingerprint or facial recognition).
• Addresses: Store and manage different addresses for various purposes.
• • Registration address: Your main address associated with the account.
  • Primary shipping address: The default address used for receiving purchases. You can add or change addresses during checkout.
• Payments: Configure how you pay for items and how you get paid as a seller.
• • Payment options: Add, edit, or remove credit cards, debit cards, or other saved payment methods.
  • Payout settings: Manage your bank information for receiving funds from sales.
• Communication Preferences: Control when and how eBay sends you notifications.
• • Manage alerts for buying activity, selling updates, messages from other users, feedback received, and promotional news. You can also manage push notifications.
• Site Preferences / Selling Preferences: Customize your overall experience and automate selling tasks.
• • Excluded shipping locations: Set locations you prefer not to ship to at an account level.
  • Return policy and payment requirements: Define your default business policies, such as requiring immediate payment for certain listings.
  • Feedback: Ensure your feedback profile visibility is turned on, as you cannot list items for sale if it's off.
• Permissions: Grant access to other people (e.g., employees or assistants) to perform specific tasks on your behalf via the Team access feature.
• Activity Log: Track actions taken on your account, which is useful for oversight, especially if multiple people have access.
