eBay - Shipping Setup
To set up shipping with an eBay seller account,
go to the "Seller Hub" and create "business policies" for your shipping options, where you can set up flat-rate or calculated shipping, and define your handling time. You can also set up shipping for an individual listing by scrolling to the "Shipping section" during the listing creation process and choosing between flat cost, calculated, or local pickup options.
Setting up shipping policies
- Navigate to Business Policies: In the Seller Hub, go to "Account Settings" and then "Business Policies" to create new policies.
- Create a new policy: Click "Create policy" and select "Shipping." Give your policy a name and description.
- Choose a shipping cost type: You can choose "Flat rate," where everyone pays the same amount, or "Calculated," where the cost is based on the buyer's location, package weight, and dimensions. You can also set a cost of zero for free shipping.
- Set handling time: Determine how long it takes for you to ship the item after it's sold. A one-to-three business day handling time is recommended.
- Add shipping services and options: Include your preferred shipping services, like USPS Ground Advantage, and optionally add an extra handling cost. You can also set up international shipping through the "Global Shipping Program" or by setting up your own international services.
- Save your policy: Click "Save" to finalize your new shipping policy, which can be applied to listings.
Setting up shipping for a single listing
- Go to the listing page: Create a new listing or edit an existing one.
- Find the Shipping section: Scroll down to the "Shipping" section of the listing form.
- Choose shipping options: Select from the available options:
- Ship your item: Choose a fixed cost, or let eBay calculate the cost based on package details.
- Local pickup: Offer the buyer the option to pick up the item in person.
- Both: You can offer local pickup in addition to shipping.
- Enter package details: If you're using calculated shipping, provide the package type, dimensions, and weight.
- Apply a policy: Apply one of the business policies you've already created, or manually enter the shipping details directly in the listing.
